Long Facts:

  1. We'll back back for our Sunday morning Bible study during the 11 AM service on the third floor. We'll be talking about the Pastoral Epistles (1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Titus).
  2. Sunday evening we'll be back at the building for Youth Group. PARENTAL WARNING: MATURE CONTENT - For the five weeks we'll be covering a theology of the body that we see in the scriptures. We will try to answer the following questions (one per week) 1) Are our bodies good? 2) What are our bodies meant for? 3) How does God communicate to us through our bodies? 4) What does having a different kind of body mean? (week 5 will be a Q&A). The goal in answering these questions is not to tell our students "what" to think about bodies but instead "how" to think Biblically about our bodies. The questions we are asking in our large group time are purposefully broad. When we break into our small groups based on age and gender, inevitably our students will be asking questions about sex, sexuality, and gender. If you haven't had conversations with your students about these topics, please do so. If you feel like your student does not have the maturity level you would like them to have to talk about these topics, it may be best to keep them home and have these conversations with them.
  3. We have a link where you can submit your questions for series on bodies anonymously. You can do so at www.sojournnewalbany.com/s2questions. We'll look at the questions in gender specific contexts on May 19.
  4. The next High School game night at the Ullery's in May.
  5. Food distribution will be happening tonight at 300 Erni Avenue at 5:00 PM.
  6. Summer Camp - READ THIS FIRST: We've run out of spots. However, we have a wait list for more. So, if you still want a shot at going, please sign up. Summer Camp is coming up! The dates are June 12-16. We'll be heading to Crossings at Cedarmore (about 1 hour away). Parents, you can check out the Parent's FAQ here. Total cost of camp is $400. $75 deposits are due by the end of February. If you need help raising funds, please let me know. We'll be having bake sales regularly on Sunday mornings. Last year we had several students pay for camp entirely through bake sales. And if that's not feasible, we have other fundraising opportunities with lawn care or building work at the church. And then on top of that sometimes we have scholarships. DO NOT LET MONEY BE A REASON NOT TO GO TO CAMP. I know a guy who owns the universe and we can ask him ;) If money is an issue, let me know and I'll do what I can. You can sign up for camp using the link here.
  7. We're having a informational parent meeting about Camp Sunday May 19 at 12:30 PM in the Church Hall.
  8. Speaking of Summer Camp Bake Sales, we'll be having one April 21 and then every other week until camp. Bring your food to be sold at 8:45 to the lobby.
  9. There are events throughout the week at New Albany High School, Scribner Middle School, Hazlewood Middle School, and the Uptown Youth Collective. We've partnered with Youth for Christ and do Campus Life at NAHS after school in the cafeteria at 2:30 on Mondays and then we head over to Graceland's Uptown Youth Collective at 824 Thomas Street from 4-6 on Mondays. We're at Scribner from 3:45 to 5 on Tuesday's in the presentation room, and then we are at Hazlewood from 3:45 to 5 Thursday's in the presentation room. We'd love to see you there!
  10. We've created a Facebook page for even more communication! You can ask questions and see pictures of all of our shenanigans!
  11. Our summer schedule is changing! We don't want to be a "silo ministry" and so we're going to spend the summer together with the adults in Sunday Bible Fellowship and in the worship service. Also, because Sunday evenings are so on and off during the summer, we're going to "cancel" our Sunday evening events for June and July and instead have "events" throughout the summer. So please pay special attention to our announcements to make sure you don't miss anything!
